At cloud base pilots look for the inflow or updraft in areas of new convective development. Cloud seeding at top usually involves locating convective towers with temperatures between -5 ºC and -15 ºC. Next the aircraft will make penetrations in to the cloud to find sufficient supercooled water. When the pilot is satisfied with the liquid water content, updrafts will be measured and the agent is dispersed. The dosage is usually 1 flare per 5 km3 of cloud volume.
