Gaines, Terry and Yoakum Counties show declines in the water table of 1 to 3 feet annually and some years as much as 5 foot declines have been observed in small areas.  Future projections for water availability for these counties are not that encouraging.  Therefore, since the aquifer that sustains our livelihood is being depleted and no surface water is available one of the few options we have to conserve our groundwater is to enhance rainfall.
