The type of flares used for seeding operations are the 20 gram ejectable silver iodide flare and the 40 gram burn in place flare.  The ejectable flare rack is located on the belly of the aircraft and consists of 102 ejectable flares for top seeding operations. For base seeding operations located just behind the engine nacelle on the trailing edge of the wings are burn in place flares which consist of 40 grams of silver iodide per flare.  There are a total of two racks of burn in place flares on each aircraft.  Each rack consists of 24 burn in place flares for a total of 48 burn in place flares per aircraft.
